Dr Victor Fries (pronounced Freeze) was looking for a cure for a rare and fatal illness that his wife had contracted. To keep his wife Nora alive he had placed her into cryogenic suspension as he worked endlessly for the cure. Sadly tragedy struck, whilst working in the his lab, he was accosted by his employer for wasting funds and was doused with the Cryogenic chemicals, forever altering his genetic makeup; and making it impossible for him to survive unless he is kept chilled thanks to a giant cannister upon his back - keeping him at below zero degrees Celsius.
Now he is as cold emotionally as he is physically. He is currently trapped in Arkham City along with the rest of the inmates. Using a special containment suit to keep his body chilled to below freezing, this also has the added benefit of amplifying his strength. He is also armed with a Freeze ay, that can encase a man in a block of ice in seconds. Mr. Freeze is a terrible, if tragic foe for the Batman.
