Hera, tired of Zeus\' infidelity, takes her revenge and releases the Titans on Mount Olympus. The ensuing clash ignites a combustion that shatters the Earth. Weaker gods are obliterated, rendered down into small fragments of power. The strongest resist total annihilation - but even their prodigious power cannot save them entirely. Falling from the sundered mountain, the shards of their divinity and the remnants of those that did not survive scatter to the four corners of a broken world.
On waking, the gods finds themselves to be but shadows of their former selves. Still mighty, stronger than any mortal - but no longer all powerful, no longer immortal. Each could sense the fragments of power now fallen to the Earth; each realizing that by collecting these they could regain their former grandeur. If they could amass enough, they could stand at the front of a new pantheon, reshaped in their image.
The world around them suffers in kind, the power released during the battle igniting a cataclysm that renders Greece a barren wasteland. Athens burns, Crete has vanished below the roiling seas and Olympus is reduced to an ash-clad wreck of its former glory.
Hades, diminished by the conflict, no longer holds sway over the underworld. The gates yawn open, and though the River Styx bars the weakest souls from escaping to the mortal world, the mightiest heroes and most vicious monsters have managed to claw their way back up the Styx to the surface.
A new struggle begins. Gods summon mortal survivors, returned heroes and reborn monsters to their side in their hunt for the shards of lost power. The embers of the Olympean pyre burn hot once again.
In Mythic Battles: Pantheon, it is these clashes between warbands, in the midst of a post-apocalyptic ancient Greece, that are the focal point. Choose your god, draft your warband and take the fight to your enemies with the might of the most powerful beings from Greek mythology at your back. Blending elements of drafting, card management, and dice manipulation it can be played in skirmish mode or as a full adventure.
