Sproket's Painting Master Class 2020 Product Description

Painting Master Class

We are pleased to announce David Soper is back with another masterclass in 2020 on the 23rd and 24th May!!

This year you will be working on the Kastelan Robot from Warhammer 40,000 and this will be shipped to you once you purchase your ticket so you can prep it ahead of time and make the most of your weekend with David.

Dirt, damage and decay - weathering a Kastelan Robot.
The chosen model for this two-day master class is an Adeptus Mechanicus Kastelan Robot from Games Workshop. There will be an emphasis on the techniques David uses to paint textured damage and corrosion over a variety of surfaces and materials.

Topics & techniques to be covered will include:
**Assembly and preparation including the addition of real surface textures to a model;
**Priming a model and choosing a base colour;
**An overview of contrast and colour theory, and their application to creating a successful paint scheme;
**Painting volumes and forms;
**Painting true metallic metals;
**Creating and enhancing painted texture - stippling, dry brushing and freehand textures;
**Weathering effects including battle damage, corrosion and staining;
**Adding finishing touches and special effects to a painted miniature.

Some time will be available on the Saturday morning for assembly; however, we strongly encourage participants to assemble their model in advance, if possible. There will be the opportunity to do this at Element Games on the Friday afternoon.

Both Saturday and Sunday will feature a strong practical element with participants having the opportunity for plenty of 'hands on' experience. This will be interspersed with explanations of the underlying theory and demonstrations of the techniques required for all key stages of the painting progress. David will provide one to one advice and support to all participants throughout.

Recommended equipment:
 A suitable painting lamp
 A portable hairdryer
 Tools and equipment for prep/clean up of a plastic model a craft knife/scalpel, plastic glue/super glue, fine grit sand paper
 Primer (if you prefer to use one)
 Palette/wet palette (whichever you prefer to use)
 Water pot/cup
 Kitchen roll
 Paint brushes - I recommend using good quality sable brushes. The brush size you use depends upon your personal preference but for the model we will be working on sizes 0,1 & 2 would be appropriate.

Please note: If you purchase a ticket and later require a refund the refund will have the value of the model needed for the class subtracted. Please could you sub assemble the miniatures in the following pieces
- Legs, head and torso
- Arms and gun seperate to allow access to all areas of the model.
