If there’s one thing missing from the newest iteration of MESBG, it’s good old fashioned list building – so for one night only, we’re going old school!
In addition to using any regular army list, you can also build your army by faction keyword! To do this, do the following:
- Pick any army list in the game.
- Pick any hero from that army list (E.g. Eomer). If the army has a mandatory General, they must be selected.
- Pick one faction keyword from that hero (E.g. Rohan).
- You may build the rest of your army (Heroes and Warriors) using any profile that shares that faction keyword. (I recommend using Tabletop Admiral’s ‘Free Build’ mode to do this!)
- You maintain the army bonuses of the army originally chosen.
- Other list building restrictions from the original army (e.g. Assault on Lothlorien must contain more Orcs than Goblins) remain in place.
There are no painting requirements - bare plastic is fine but WYSIWYG is requested.

Scenarios will be taken from the Matched Play Guide and adapted for 3’x3’ boards, but don't worry if you don't have a copy of this – there will be plenty of copies around on the night. Rounds will be 70 minutes, and to fit everything in we will be kicking off with registration at 6:30pm – we will start early if everybody is present.
To finish rounds promptly, we will call ‘no new turns’ 5 minutes before the end of the round, with a strict dice down when time is called. Schedule: 6:30 arrival, registration and briefing 6:55 round 1 pairing

The ticket price is made up of your regular table fees (£5 - no need to sub in on the night) and a £2.50 contribution to prize support, all of which will go back into these events. NWGC MEMBERS just pay £2.50 prize support on the night, payable at the bar. Please email us at

CLICK HERE to sign up to the event on Longshanks as soon as possible. Please sign up before the day of the event to avoid any delays. List submissions are not required, but please consider bringing a list printout if you think it's needed! Tickets can be purchased on the night at the bar if required.
Registration cut off is at 6:55. Byes may be used in case of odd numbers. Late attendees will be given a forced draw for game 1, but will be dropped if you can’t make it in time for game 2. If you’re unable to attend on the night, or can only make the first date, please let the TO (Dan Stuart) know as soon as possible!
