In an attempt to combat the human threat to Malifaux, the gremlins have eagerly sought the control and skill that humans wield in this world. Few survive a gremlin encounter, but the LaCroix kin are deadlier than most. Emulating the Ortegas, Ophelia and her family are clever and have learned to use human weapons with gremlin modifications - their daring encounters the subject of legend back in the bayou. There's little doubt the LaCroix barely make do with what they're good at - annoying the Guild.
