O. P Arena from Wizkids is a battle royale card game with a deck of over 80 character or dude cards that players will use against each other to fight it out, gain victory points and be crowned Arena champion.
The box art tells you all you need to know. There are few games that allow you to pit a lazer shark against a T-or and the undead, animated chicken bone. This game does not take itself seriously and even the rules are funny.
The mix of factions bring a level of strategy to the game. Deciding which dudes to attack and which dude or faction to use is vital if you want to score big. Each faction and dude has different attack options and reaction effects.
On a turn, players may discard a dude from their team. Any player with damage tokens on that dude gains victory points. Players then call for dudes: playing a card from their hand, activate any bonuses for playing the dude and then roll the attack die.
The die is placed on one of the player’s dudes in play to activate an ability with a value equal or less than the die result. The player resolves the attack and places their colour damage tokens on any opponents’, targeted dudes.
Players can use re-roll tokens for the attack die and Nerph and shield tokens to buff and protect their dudes.
When a dude is overpowered, the player delivering the fatal blow along with those providing the most damage, gain VP. Scores are kept on the short, or long game tracker board.
The first person to reach the end of the track wins.
