Welcome to our Premier Magic the Gathering event for Grand Prix Bologna!

Grand Prix are the biggest open Magic events run around the world. These exciting three-day festivals of all that is Magic feature a two-day main event with thousands of dollars in cash prizes. Plus, you�ll find artist signings and more side events than you could possibly play in your most fevered Magic-induced dreams.

Get a leg up at your next Grand Prix by competing in Grand Prix Trials (GPT). These tournaments are run by independent stores around the world and award a two-round bye to a Grand Prix, giving you a head start on the competition with two free wins to start the tournament.

This event will provide a 2-round bye to the Champion

EVENT FORMAT - STANDARD

Players should also keep in mind the following for GPTs:

- Tournaments are run at a Regular REL (Rules Enforcement Level) with a 3x Planeswalker Points Multiplier
- All Magic: The Gathering Tournament Rules are in effect for this event unless specifically overruled by information in this Format Document. Rules documents can be found in the Magic Document Center
- Swiss rounds are 50 minutes long and best two out of three matches
- Playoff matches are best two out of three, single elimination, and untimed
- The store owner, organizer, judge(s), and/or scorekeeper of the GPT may not play in the tournament

PRIZE SUPPORT

Dependent on final numbers and the prize support scales up and down. but based on a 20 player event we�ll award the following:

1st place: �40.00 cash or �50.00 Store Credit
2nd place: �20.00 cash or �25.00 Store Credit
3rd & 4th: �12.50 cash or �15.00 Store Credit each
Top half: 2 Boosters
Bottom half: 1 Booster

These �cash� amounts will be paid as Store Credit. We would like to offer real cash and just looking into the legality and accounting of this.

We will provide a closer estimate of prize support based on registered players closer to the event and during the Pre-event Brief.

TIMINGS

Timings and the number of rounds are dependent on the total number of players present. We will announce the timings for the day and number of rounds in the pre-event brief.

As a guide here are the timings for a 20 player event. 20 players would be 5 rounds of Swiss followed by Top 8 cut.

After the Swiss ends the final standings will be announced and prizes distributed to those not continuing in a Play-off cut.

These events are capped initially at 32.

Food & Drink:

Snacks and drinks will be available on site. It is recommended to bring your own lunch but there are local shops and Takeaways within walking/driving distance if you want to buy some. The venue is a Licenced Premises and as such no outside drinks, with the exception of water, may be brought into the venue. Also in accordance with WPN policy there is to be no alcohol consumed at the Magic tables.

Parking/ travel:
FREE PARKING all day outside in the venues shared/private car par and next door in the 46 space Council run car park.

Public transport:
Davenport train station is the closest at a 10-15 minute walk but the main Stockport Station is also only 20-25 minute walk (and you'll find more frequent trains). You can get the bus from Stockport Station for less than �2.00 each way. And the Bus stops at the end of our road - opposite Premier Inn and is a 2 minute walk.
