Genius, billionaire, playboy, and philanthropist Tony Stark runs the defence contractor Stark Industries and is critically wounded and kidnapped on a military trip in war-torn Afghanistan. Rather than follow the demands of his captures to build weapons, he invents a massive armoured suit to help him escape and Iron man is born.
Now with a new found respect for life, Tony changes his company from making weapons and constructs a new improved version of his armoured suit to become the red and gold hero Iron Man that we know today.
